OBOA Strategic Priorities
2022-2025
The strategic objectives for the organization have been organized into three pillars that will guide the Board’s work for the duration of the plan.
MISSION
The OBOA is dedicated to support the success of its members through training and education and is an advocate for building officials across Ontario.
VALUES
The OBOA values collaboration, openness, creativity and innovation, excellence, agility, and resilience
VISION
The OBOA will be the recognized leader in building official training by continuously finding ways to innovate and serve our members better.
COLLABORATION
1
To improve existing partnerships and create new mutually beneficial partnerships with industry leaders within the building industry.

2
To ensure the OBOA is recognized as the voice and primary resource "go to option" in the development of cooperative technology, tools, and services of safe, sustainable, and accessible Building Codes products within Ontario and at the national level.
3
Seek endorsement of OBOA certifications and OBOA courses as the highest recognition representation of a Building Official or Professional Building Designer within Ontario.
LEARNING & INNOVATION
1
To provide innovative training/education, focusing on passing ministry exams, creating better building officials, and supporting OBOA certification program by developing and keeping programs current and relevant.
2
To develop and maintain the OBOA training materials as the top choice among building industry professionals by increasing our delivery to additional Provinces.
3
To have the Internship Program be the preferred onboarding tool for Municipal Building Officials.
SUSTAINABILITY
1
Ensure succession and growth plan in place for the OBOA centering on internal (staffing) and external (contractors).
2
Increase membership to the OBOA by encouraging new people to join the Building Official Profession through the development of a marketing campaign.
