Better understanding of the benefits and processes of modular construction can help the industry and regulators adopt and use this alternative method to address Canada’s housing challenges. CSA Group is offering an online, self-paced training Modular Construction Course, available at no-fee. This course aims to bridge the knowledge gap to facilitate smoother delivery, certification, and approvals of modular construction projects.
Modular construction is rapidly gaining recognition across Canada as a faster and more efficient way to build. It is a construction project delivery process that involves the planning, design, plant fabrication, delivery, and installation of multiple three-dimensional modules. Once assembled at the project site, the modules form a complete building or a part of a building. This course highlights the differences between modular and conventional building processes and provides an overview of the CSA Group standards that are applicable to modular construction. With funding support from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, the CSA Modular Construction Projects – Delivery, Certification, Approvals course has been expanded to provide more information on modular construction benefits, on-site and off-site processes, and practical case studies and lessons learned from modular construction projects.
