OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION
We are a self-governing, not-for-profit organization committed to establishing and maintaining a high professional standard in the administration of the building code.
Building code regulations are complex, interdependent and ever- evolving. The OBOA is deeply involved in the creation and evolution of the building code and is a trusted training, certification and advising resource for building industry professionals.
Our Story
Established in 1956, OBOA maintains its deep technical knowledge and forward thinking, driving modernization of the building code and innovation across the construction industry. Building Code
Ontario has the best building codes in the world, which is why Ontarians feel safe in the places they live, work and play. When building regulations are followed, communities thrive and disasters are avoided.
Our Mission
OBOA's mission is to support the construction of safer, more sustainable and accessible buildings in Ontario. We do this by delivering training and certification to Building Officials, promoting uniform code application, working with industry partners, providing a voice to policymakers, and advancing the Building Official profession.
Advocacy
OBOA is made of engaged Building Officials and industry professionals. We are a leading voice that educates, guides and generates support for building code policies and its administration, to advance public health and safety.
Our Members
Our members have hands-on experience interpreting the building code and work with engineers, architects, contractors, developers, and home owners in the planning, building and growing of communities.
